“In the beginning God” Genesis 1:1a

Updated: Feb 28, 2020

The year has started, a new decade, and already one month has gone by. With all the events happening around us, we are smacked in the face with the fact that tomorrow isn’t promised. We wake up to tragic news of the sudden death of athletes and their children. We meet friends after a long interlude only to find that time has taken a toll on their health.

Then as we peer through the circumstances, we see a glimmer, a ray of sunshine. It’s the smile of God that says I love you my child. Let that sit for a moment. God loves you! He patiently waits for us to try to figure things out on our own. He watches as we hustle through the day mumbling a quick prayer. I imagine He also laughs as we take our seats in the director’s chair pretending to be in charge. Yes, His mercy is new every morning and His grace is sufficient for whatever comes our way.

The new year is a fresh face for what lies ahead. It is pregnant with possibilities if we would but look. Tomorrow is history with all its heartache, guilt and regret. No matter what we have endured, a new coat of paint, a fresh perspective is in order.

In the beginning God created. He imagined, spoke and it became. What awaits you? What prayers have you been waiting to see manifest? What impact and influence is still bottled up inside? What greatness are you holding in that God is calling you to unleash on the world? What new song will you sing? What book will you write? What doors will you walk through with your head held high and gratitude on your lips? What possibility of monumental potential has God gifted you with?

Close your eyes and imagine…

You quietly wait for God to enter your room. He sits down across from you and calmly begins to tell you step by step what you should do. The scene is soft, sweet and peaceful. I often wish this scene would happen and yet I find that it does when I prioritize God. Each morning there’s an opportunity to wait on God’s direction through His word, His messenger and His Spirit. Time spent in prayer communicating with God about any and everything requests divine intervention and positions you to be astonished. God is able! Seeking the Kingdom of God first brings abundant blessings. When we take care of His business, He takes care of ours. If you have big dreams then you need a big God. Reading and studying God’s word produces wisdom beyond human comprehension. God knows and He cares! Standing on the promises of God is a solid foundation that results in unshakeable trust. In todays times, we need to trust His every word.

Beginning today commit to seek God’s face asking for His presence every morning. The challenge is to cut through the noise of life and in the beginning of every day and every situation to long for God’s direction and His presence and be willing to adjust as He moves.

In the beginning God said…

Grateful for His presence!
