1 Corinthians 15:33 "Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals"
2 Corinthians 10:5 "We demolish arguments and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ"
It's the Corinthian one two punch... watch out for the company you keep and watch your thoughts. Simply put, be mindful. Fill in the sentence, I surround myself with ____.
If it is true that you are the sum total (or average) of the 5 people you surround yourself with the most, do you need to change your circle? If they are leading you on the broad path, then is a more narrow intentional path more appropriate? If your circle puts thoughts in your mind that go against God's word, is that serving you? Are you encouraged and uplifted by your present environment? Are you propelled to move forward in faith to accomplish all that God has for you? Do you see the giftings of God in your life and are actively pursuing the purpose He has called you to do? Are there believers walking through life with you and challenging you to reach for the blessings? If not... examine your company.
So, those thoughts that seem to creep in because of what someone said...time to shut up and shine! Shine my brother and sister! Glow with the godliness on the inside. Radiate life and love. Be the light in this dark world and come out of the shadows. We have the ability to cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ! Start speaking the Word to those situations and circumstances. Start refuting those thoughts and declare what the Word promises. In order to do that, it requires that you know the Word and so much so that it just pours out of you. When a mosquito bites you, he aught to say 'there is power in the blood'. You've got your marching orders... get in the Word!
Now turning to how we treat each other...we should be adjusting the crown of other women. "I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord (Philippians 4:2)"
Why the competition, criticizing, and controlling? That's not God's way. The Bible tells us to love one another as we love ourselves. Here is the question, Do you love yourself?
Go back and read the first two Scriptures again. If the company you keep is keeping up the drama, let it go. If you find that others are fueling the competition or the feeling of you not measuring up to other women, let that tank run empty. If others are controlling you, find your voice! Let your heart be filled with the love of God so that you shower His kind of love on others. Think like God and serve like Him too. It's time to Level Up!
